I'm an Assistant Professor at the Department of Information Science and Technology at George Mason University, with a PhD in Information Science from Drexel University College of Computing and Informatics where I studied internet privacy and anonymity.
My work focuses on providing safe and ethical technologies. I also theorize about the impact of new types of data relations on our identities and shifting norms around surveillance and privacy.
I work at the intersection of human-computer interaction (HCI) and social and critical computing. My work is published in venues such as ACM CHI, CSCW, TOCHI, and USINEX.
I am looking for PhD students to join me at GMU IST to work on research related to privacy and reproductive health as well as critical social media algorithm studies. If you are interested, please contact me with your CV at firstname.lastname@example.org or @norakmcdonald. For more information about the PhD in Information Science at GMU check out their website.
